Classification and Division: The Ways We Lie
Yes, a dictionary definition is a familiar, and even a more tired strategy for an essay's introduction. Even with that being said I would not advise Ericsson the author of "The Ways We Lie" not to delete the definition inserts she used in her paragraph. I say that because it helped her get her point across clearly.
Classification and Division: The Dog Ate my Disk, and Other Tales of Woe
Yes, I do believe the essay "The Dog Ate my Disk, and Other Tales of Woe" was funny. I say this because some of the excuses used in the essay a college student do use, but in the essay some students just took it too far.
Comparison and Contrast: Sex, Lies, and Conversation

Comparison & Contrast: Swollen Expectations

Journal Entry:"Television:The Plug-In Drug
The television has had a somewhat neutral effect on me as a child, I say this because I was a child who was always stayed inside, but never watched too much TV. My mom would make sure I had other entertainment other than the TV. My life would be fine without the TV because I barely watch it anyway.
"A Peaceful Woman Explains Why She Carries a Gun" by Linda M. Hasselstrom
No, I do not believe that carrying a gun was the only choice for Hasselstrom, because she could have taken more steps that what she did to ensure her safety, but since she chose to get the gun I guess she felt like it gave her more security if anything was to happen.
Journal Entry: Chapter 8
Yes, I would get a tattoo, in fact I have one. Their wwas no particular reason why I got it. It was just my birthday present from my mother on my 17th birthday so I got my name, which I know is common, but its spelled different so I thought it would be unique.
"Just Walk on By: A Black Man Ponders His Power to Alter Public Space" by Brent Staples
I believe Staples use of cause and effect to demonstrate what goes "into the making of a thug" was the correct usage. I say this because I understood what he was trying to say and he made his causes and effects clear to his readers.
