Classification and Division: The Ways We Lie
Yes, a dictionary definition is a familiar, and even a more tired strategy for an essay's introduction. Even with that being said I would not advise Ericsson the author of "The Ways We Lie" not to delete the definition inserts she used in her paragraph. I say that because it helped her get her point across clearly.
Classification and Division: The Dog Ate my Disk, and Other Tales of Woe
Yes, I do believe the essay "The Dog Ate my Disk, and Other Tales of Woe" was funny. I say this because some of the excuses used in the essay a college student do use, but in the essay some students just took it too far.
Comparison and Contrast: Sex, Lies, and Conversation
Based on my own observations of male and female communications, I do believe that Tannen's analysis were accurate. I do not mind having conversation with my boyfriend, but when we do I like to hear his feedback on things.

Comparison & Contrast: Swollen Expectations
In my own opinion, I do believe the authors characterized the society accurately. I say this because our generation have a lot more stuff and much higher material expectations than our previous generations before us did.

Journal Entry:"Television:The Plug-In Drug
The television has had a somewhat neutral effect on me as a child, I say this because I was a child who was always stayed inside, but never watched too much TV. My mom would make sure I had other entertainment other than the TV. My life would be fine without the TV because I barely watch it anyway.
"A Peaceful Woman Explains Why She Carries a Gun" by Linda M. Hasselstrom
No, I do not believe that carrying a gun was the only choice for Hasselstrom, because she could have taken more steps that what she did to ensure her safety, but since she chose to get the gun I guess she felt like it gave her more security if anything was to happen.
Journal Entry: Chapter 8
Yes, I would get a tattoo, in fact I have one. Their wwas no particular reason why I got it. It was just my birthday present from my mother on my 17th birthday so I got my name, which I know is common, but its spelled different so I thought it would be unique.
"Just Walk on By: A Black Man Ponders His Power to Alter Public Space" by Brent Staples
I believe Staples use of cause and effect to demonstrate what goes "into the making of a thug" was the correct usage. I say this because I understood what he was trying to say and he made his causes and effects clear to his readers.

The Storm (Fiction)
On one level, the story's title refer's to the storm that takes place through much of the story. To what else could the story's title refer?
-From what I understand the story's title could refer to the events or things that took place or happened as the actual storm took place in the story.
-From what I understand the story's title could refer to the events or things that took place or happened as the actual storm took place in the story.

Thinking about Your Own Use of Paragraphs
It was junior year at a brand new school with lots of new people and different surroundings. Topic Sentence: I had signed up for a marketing class were you had to have a part-time job in order to be in the class, Supporting Statements: so i set out into the city of Zachary to go search high and heavy for a job. While out in the city going from store-to-store, and resturant-to-resturant, i got the same response,"we are not hiring". At first I'm like okay cool no one is hiring, but as I continue to look for o job high and heavy I kept getting that same response,"we are not hiring," which makes me try a different approach like since you are not hiring my I have an application anyway if you do not mind, and with that being said they would tell me that we are currently out of applications. Conclusion:So I try this approach a couple more time and get the same response, which made me so frustrated I began to cry.

Introduction and Conclusion Stratgies
Background information would be my choice of an introduction strategy because I will be able to get straight to the point in my thesis statment. While my choice of a conclusion strategy would be the recommendation of a course of action because it is useful to use when ending a disscussion of a problem. I do believe these strategies chosen for my paper are effective for both my audience and the purpose for the paper. Such choices will be very appealing to my audience because they will help sturcture my paper.

Exploring A Topic- Paper 1
During class we had partner discussions on the topic we chose for our first paper. I which I believe was very useful for my partner and I because we got a chance to see what we were missing and correct what we misunderstood. But before then we freewrited on the topic to get a chance to get all our thoughts on the topic on paper and we then used the checklist questions for probing to explore our topic systematically. So in all I thought each method was very useful.

What's in a Name
While racism is still going on in the mid 1950's, one black family is respected to a certain extent by the whites in their neighborhood. But their is one particular elder person that calls the man of this family George when its is not his name, but the man still answers to it anyway which make his son ask him "why did Mr.Wilson call you George, doesn't he know your name, tell him yor name" and in the father's response he tells his son "he knows my name, boy," and after a long pause the father says "he call all colored people George". It was such an incident were the family just calls it "one of those things" because it occurred very often.
